McLean College Consulting supports students from grade 6 through college sophomores with TJHSST admissions, college applications, and transfer processes, in addition to comprehensive academic counseling. We specialize in academic crisis management for students at all grade levels. We are based in Northern Virginia and work with students across the country.
Meet Michelle
Founder and Head Counselor, Michelle Hong
Michelle Hong has over nine years of experience advising students and parents through the college admissions process. A proud resident of Virginia for more than 15 years, Michelle brings both personal and professional insight to her work—drawing from her own journey navigating the American public school system after immigrating from South Korea.
As the parent of two Fairfax County Public School graduates, Michelle understands firsthand the challenges families face. Her lived experience inspired her to pursue a Master’s in Counseling from George Washington University after earning a Master’s in TESOL Education from George Mason University.
Michelle currently serves as a middle school counselor in Fairfax County Public Schools, where she supports students, parents, and families across academic, emotional, and transitional needs.
In addition to helping students prepare for the transition from middle to high school—including the highly competitive TJHSST admissions process—Michelle brings a counselor’s perspective to college advising. Her approach blends strategy with empathy, ensuring students are supported and empowered every step of the way.
Michelle lives in McLean, Virginia, with her family.
